Blooming in California

I really love plants.  Funny - it wasn't always this way.  I remember a day in dallas when a sweet friend of mine, Amy invited us to join her at the Dallas Arboretum.  I thought, "seriously?  A whole day of walking around looking at gardens?"  I LOVED IT!
So we found an arboretum while we were in California and went and marveled at all the things that grow there that don't grow at home :)
Hibiscus - formerly my favorite flower.  They had so many different shades and varieties (ignore that my baby girl might have been a little chilly upon arrival, don't worry, it warmed right up).
Kabe thought this tree was pretty cool.  We couldn't tell if those were roots or branches but it was Harry Potter worthy.
There were a lot of blossoms that looked like they came out of a Dr. Seuss book.
We all thought these were zucchini flowers (familiar) until we examined and noticed that they all hung down.

This tree was pretty amazing - not so amazing photo, but cool tree.  Leisl didn't want to sit still for her picture.
This was a creepy tree.  It really is covered with sharp and sturdy thorns.  Don't shove your friend into this guy.
We thought it was an illusion until we touched it - nope, real as real gets.
There was a fun children's garden with a few playing spots.

And photo ops.
Awe - my little garden of goofballs.  What sweet kids.  They really indulged me here, although they were interested, this trip really was for Mommy.
They got to climb on a few things.
In age-abetical order of course.
And we're off to another adventure.  We also went to the Zoo - but didn't take any pictures and visited 8 different parks/playgrounds during the course of our trip.  We played at Golf-land (thanks to the Kenneys) and had a great adventure.  After 10 days of vacation we were all pretty ready to head home and are thankful to be back!
