You don't have to push a handcart

But you can if you want. For the Pioneer Day celebration we decided to make it a family affair and the 7 of us dressed up in pioneer garb and pushed/rode a handcart in the parade. It was quite an adventure and I think I had the cutest 5 little pioneer children ever. I didn't get a picture of it but halfway through the parade Darla fell asleep in my arms. Here I am waving her arm and her little head was bobbing up and down. She was so sweet about it though and really was a trooper the whole time. After the parade we set up a booth in the park full of free pioneer games. Mostly it was just our kids that enjoyed them but we had a lot of fun. Here Brig is eating the taffy that he pulled (he pulled a LOT of taffy).
Here is the stick-pull. The boys kept challenging their Daddy and although they came close a few times, "Dr. Tyler" still reigns as stick-pull champion.
Ayvri would not be outdone by the boys and decided to pull them around in the handcart. The little pixie could barely pick it up but she thought she was so tough. I just loved the girls in their bonnets and skirts I made.
Here's the whole family. We had a lot of fun and were very thankful that yet again, it was quite overcast. I'm so thankful for our pioneer ancestors and for the legacy that they left us. Every time I think about what they did I am reminded of the responsibility we have to continue in faith, finding joy in our journeys.
