Ode to Emmett

I realized that since moving to this little paradise I haven't paid homage to our new hometown. Allow me to divulge some of the things I love about this place.

1) Our HOUSE! Seriously, this is the best house, great layout, amazing property, beautiful (convenient) location. We are 5 minutes from school, 5 minutes from work, out in the country, close to town and right across the street from the church. We also have rock-on-awesome neighbors. I love the porch to sit on, the hot tub to sit in, the tree to climb, the horse grazing out front, room for the dogs (and kids) to run, a getaway for the Manly Man to do his own thing and work on his projects (as if he had time for that) and space in my spacious home to find peace and quiet.

2) People. I've heard from a lot of people that small towns are clique-ish. This is probably true in some small towns, but NOT Emmett! Seriously - I've never met more friendly and accepting people who have taken us in and watch out for us on every turn. From the friendly gals at the Chamber who first welcomed us to our great neighbors, loving ward and fantastic patients, the people of Gem County are it's finest treasure.

3) Space. Living in Dallas was an education in suburban life and metroplex traffic. I can honestly say I LOVE my Texas home and miss so much about it, but not all of it. I don't miss the city. Country girl at heart and loving the beautiful landscape, the agriculture (can we say home grown goodness) and incredible wildlife that I yearn to get out and photograph 6 different beautiful birds on the way to school). I also love the proximity and that within 30 minutes I can literally shop or eat anywhere I want. It's the best of both worlds. I can see the stars at night and am only 40 minutes from the temple.

So . . . here's to Emmett - a little patch of heaven we're blessed to call home. My only complaint is that you aren't within a 30 mile radius of Cedar City.

Yeah! for you that you found a great place to fit your style and you're doing well. My sister lives in Idaho, a different part, and loves it too. Another sister lives in Maine and really loves it. It's late which is probably why I'm rambling:)
