Meet Nik!

No - this dogs name is not Nik, it's Max . . . but the camera with which it was taken has been affectionately named "Nik". Thanks for all the great input that was given as to my camera dilemma. I'm glad to report that there's a new and improved camera at our house (ok I'll be honest, it's an incredible camera) and I'm so excited to re-learn the language of photography. You know, words like Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, F-stop. All that jargon that I used to understand that means pretty much nothing to me now. I'm so excited to take better, real-er pictures. Brace yourself for post overload - I played with my camera a lot this weekend!!!
Oh - and this is my basil. I liked the picture, but more than that I love fresh basil. Boy howdy, do I ever love fresh basil!!!

Clearly Nik means you went with a Nikon (at first I thought you were introducing me...what a letdown!). Which did you end up with? It sounds like a DSLR?

Love all the pictures of your cute little family! Looks like the camera is a hit! I'm so jealous. I need a new one so horribly! (I agree with you on the vacinations thing, btw!)
If you want to try the fondant recipe that I made, go to this site http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm and she goes step by step for you. It was kind of a lot of work, but the kids loved helping make it and coloring it. It could be a good project for your kids!
