Creepy Crawlies

Here are a few more pictures of some of our "specimen's".This is the Cicada after molting - if you want to see an amazing video of it check this out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c1prdBo4aE
The empty exoskeleton's are all over the place - creepy, but not crawly.
More of the cottonwood borer beetle. This guy has some pretty impressive antennae. This is some kind of mite I think . . . not sure. They were found in a huddle under a planter and kept "hugging" each other really tightly (I had to pry them apart to pin them).

This is actually a pretty small spider, but the camera got us a great close-up picture and it was a good example of how spiders are different than insects.
Any guesses on what this guy is? He looks like a cross between a fly, mosquito and bee?
June bugs. These guys are the reason I don't go outside at night, they dive bomb and they're creepy!!!

that's kind of neat in a creepy sort of way. Leave it to you to collect Texas bugs while on your sojourn. :)

Love your guts,
