Blurting!

I have a problem - I often blurt things out without realizing I'm speaking out loud. Usually these things just come out of me for no-one's benefit but my own but without fail they are overheard and more often than not laughter ensues. I can't help it.

Today during a lesson we were asked what to explain the word "Amen". I said, "that's what she said." Now I've watched several seasons of The Office and can honestly say I don't understand why that particular phrase is funny, but the laughter of the sister sitting next to me indicated that it may have been slightly off-colored. Can anyone explain "that's what she said" to me please? Did I mention I can't help it?

Then later at ward choir practice our director was trying to emphasize that the part of the song we were singing was the pinnacle, the most important part, the part that needed emphasis and I, trying to help her find the right word, blurted out "climax". Honestly people, it was not meant in an off-colored way, but the laughter of the sister sitting next to me indicated that it was taken that way. I really really can't help it!

I don't premeditate these things. Here's hoping for a more appropriate tomorrow :)

This is Dusty's husband Jordan. "That's what she said" is used in a dirty way after something that could be misconstrued as dirty is said. I won't give examples to help keep your blog clean and appropriate. If you still can't figure it out call Dusty and she will explain it to you.

I really love your blurts as well. I'm with Jeri in hoping for no more appropriate tomorrows from you! That's funny.

I have never thought you said anything wrong. I've said that first phrase before, not knowing its hidden meaning, cause I usually say it when two people repeat each other, and now I'm just confused. But from now on when I say it, I'll know that hidden meaning, and we can laugh.

you should be glad you don't "get" those kinds of comments. it shows how innocent your mind is, seriously a good thing. i say that kind of stuff knowing what it means! you're a better woman than i:)

I think that is great. I have to admit I might be one of the ones giggling next to you if I heard one of those comments, but it is us folks that need to clean up our minds... not you! :)

Thanks for visiting my site and linking to me.

Toni, you and I would have so much fun if you still lived by me!! :) At least we get glimpses of each others lives through the wonderful world of blogging! By the way, I'm glad you liked the necklace! I was worried you wouldn't, so I'm glad it is something you will wear. Also, I'm going to have to try the pudding art sometime. You're just too creative of a mommy!

I'm with you, both statements seemed perfectly wholsome to me...other people should just get their minds out of the gutter!
