Colony Days

Palmer has a celebration in June in honor of Colony Days - like Pioneer Day for the valley.  This was our first "real" Alaskan parade and it didn't dissapoint - floats, dancing groups, old cars and of course - candy.  Seriously, whoever introduced throwing candy at a parade ruined it for parents forevermore.
We bumped into some of our best buddies at the parade.  At least one of my kids has grown out of the candy frenzy.

And one seemed almost content to watch from aloft (while being systematically fed candy).

Afterward one of the churches threw a huge picnic.  Free food drew quite a crowd and we enjoyed the steel drums group from Ksenya's school while we ate on a big green lawn.  What a great day!
