We have two new additions to our family farm. These happy owls live in the tree in our backyard. One of them has a black eye (see on the right?) and is pretty freaky looking but they are friendly and don't scare easily. The arrive each afternoon around 4:00 and leave in the morning around 6-7. They make lovely hooting noises and when they swoop down to catch something they leave an impressive shadow. They really are beautiful birds and as long as they don't try to eat my chickens I'm happy to have them around killing the mice. Even better than cats, they stick around and I don't have to feed them.
