Leave No Trace

Kabe has been a diligent little scouter lately - determined to earn all his arrow points before his birthday in September.  One of the "extra" awards he's been working on is the "Leave No Trace" award, for which he had to organize a project.  He wrote out a plan, made some phone call invitations and gathered some of his favorite peeps at our house for a service project.  He explained what the Leave No Trace guidelines are and then asked his buddy Gideon to give the opening prayer (so cute).
Here is the crew before we set out.  Kabe really took it all very seriously.  I didn't get a picture but he also had to make a poster to display at Pack Meeting and he wouldn't let me touch it, he had to do it all himself and it was a hoot.  One of the pictures he drew was of a pooping dog (manage your pets).  Funny guy!
Here are the kiddos gathering garbage through the entire power easement in our subdivision.  They were happy little worker bees the whole time and really did gather a lot of garbage.
Good thing they all had a bag because lots of us got holes in our bags.  And no-one rocks shorts and boots like Tell!
The girls might have been a little more meticulous than the boys and fell behind toward the end picking up the garbage the boys missed.
Don't worry - Ayvri happily herds the boys on home.
Leisl was great morale support and such a tough girl when she fell down and bloodied her fat little knee.  I hope the neighbors forgive us for walking through their backyards at 8 am and making every dog in the neighborhood go berserk for a while.  We were trying to beat the heat.
Here they are with their loot (trash) after.  Kabe served otter pops as the refreshment and was very proud of himself for finishing up the requirements for this award.  Gotta love the scouting fever.
