Turkey Time

We had the coolest experience this year. Our awesome neighbor Mr. Gordon raised some turkeys this year and consented to let us help butcher it and then cook it for Thanksgiving dinner. He was so patient as we all gathered around and watched him make it look easy as we cleaned the bird. The kids were fascinated by the whole process. When it was all done the turkey weighed a whopping 48 pounds. I was amazed! I've never seen anything that big and we had to cut the wings and legs off to get it into the oven. It tasted amazing and was such a fun cool memory made. Thanks Mr. Gordon for the opportunity. We had to wash the thing in the bathtub because it wouldn't fit in the sink.

Oh. My. Goodness. I can't imagine going through that process! I'm amazed you could eat Mr. Bird afterward :) I'm sure you still have leftovers (48 pounds!)
