Soggy Camping

We decided to take one more camping trip before the summer ended. It was a good lesson in persistence. We got loaded up and on our way into town it started to rain. It rained for hours - all the way up the mountain and when we arrived next to the lake there was standing water pretty much every where. We were determined and got the tents set up and a canopy to sit under while we watched the rain. Finally just before dinner it stopped (mostly).
We enjoyed the campfire and headed to bed. I was so thankful that we waited it out because the next day was beautiful. The kids loved riding the four wheeler and playing in the canoe. We were really brave and let them go out on the lake without adults (probably crazy). That's how my husband learned when he was little and it was fun to watch, especially Kabe and Peter wander around with the oars getting stuck in the moss and then trying to launch themselves and rock the boat without tipping. We had a great time hanging out with Ty's parents and a few siblings and just taking it easy. Camping is a lot of work, but I love our mountains. Even Darla enjoyed climbing around in the dirt and eating the birthday cake Grandma made for her.
