FOOD Matters!

In an attempt to organize my favorite recipes I've started another blog . . . I know, one more thing to keep up on. It's here - take the link that says "My Recipe's" if you're curious. Right now it's sadly without pictures, but gradually I hope to remedy that.

Here's a question for all my readers (please, ALL of you respond, I'd really like as many opinions as I can get). Do you think you could go 1 month completely RAW? Would you ever consider it? Do you think it would make a difference in your health? Do you think that only completely fanatical granola freaks do things like this? Let me know how you really feel (this is a friendly space).

No way, no how could I go one month completely raw. (But I certainly wouldn't judge anyone if they chose to do it by calling them "granola" or anything! If you can do it, have at it :)

I doubt that I could do it, but I bet it's great for a cleans of all the toxins & what not. I wouldn't think that it's weird at all! I can eat fruit raw, but I cannot eat a lot of raw veggies.

It should also make things really, ahem, regular for you! LOL!

I love that you have all of these projects! It's so fun!

we are going to give it a try (the standard process 21 day cleanse). im kinda nervous that i wont be able to keep it up. think positive right?? but i do think that it will greatly improve our health! and hopefully make an impact on how we eat in the future. im excited to see how i feel while doing it! i love that good feeling when you are eating right!

I think it depends. Is it only fruit and veg, can you have salad dressings, or dairy, grain?

Oh girly, of course you can do it! You can do anything you put your beautiful red headed step child head to. :) Of course I would think that you are a fanatical granola, but what makes you think that I don't already?? hmmmm?
Ok, seriously I would consider it. We are having all of our harvest come from the garden and I am loving it. I am perfectly happy eating a tomato for lunch. How is the wheat grass going? This is probably the longest comment I have ever made. If I just keep rambling on people will stop and read it because it is so long and I must have something TOTAL worth reading. HA HA HA Love ya fs

cooking food is considered to be one of the oldest chemical reactions. the human body has changed in response to eating cooked foods over the last few million years. Some of these changes are that are jaws and teeth have become smaller, our stomachs have shrunk, and our small intestines have grown longer, lengthening the digestive surface area. our bodies are used to digesting food and getting the nutrients it needs via cooked foods. i would not go raw, but vegetarian could be beneficial, just make sure to supplement with protein and calcium.

First the microwave, now this?! Totally kidding! I couldn't do it. But if you go for it, I'd love to hear all about it! And I wouldn't call you granola!

I'm a moderation-in-all-things-gal myself, but to each her own. Does RAW mean I have to chew my wheat off the stalk thing? I love the staying power of peanut butter on whole wheat toast in the morning. I did hear something somewhere:) about cooked/steamed/whatever broccoli is better for you than raw, in terms of accessing the nutrients. Maybe I don't know what you mean by RAW:)

I think you can totally do it but only if Tyler is on board. I have been trying to go no dairy and limited meat but it is sooooo hard w/ my husband bringing a large plate of crackers, cheese and pepperoni to the family room after the kids are in bed. What do I say? No? I'm not that strong!

PS - You're so pretty! I never would have known that w/o your blog.

I can't believe how grown up Brig looks! I guess that happens when you move away huh.
I think it would be awesome to go raw for 30 days and I think I will when I'm not pregnant or nursing (I've heard detoxing is not so great when nursing because of the toxins released in your body). It's my opinion that it's a great cleansing, detoxifying thing to do every now and then, but I don't think 100% raw all the time is necessary. There are things that are actually better for you cooked. Let us know how it goes if you try it!

I/we would like to be on a more RAW diet...it is hard. I need help in finding good and tried recipes. After I am done nursing I am going to do the SP cleanse...21 days, not too bad.
