The Science Guy

Why do I never have a decent picture of Kabe? Oh yeah - because he never sits still long enough to focus!

Kabe has been very blessed to be invited to participate in a Science class every Thursday for a couple hours. He and two other boys his age get to do fun experiments and learn all kinds of amazing things. He has built a volcano, made bird feeders, talked about the planets, dug for dinosaur bones and all kinds of other wonderful things. He's learned so much and it's amazing how excited he gets about it - every morning, "Mom is today my science day?" So yesterday he learned about yeast and this is what he taught me. . .

Kabe: "Mom - we got to wake up the yeast"
Mom: "how?"
Kabe: "It needs a warm bath and some salt . . . no, not salt . . . that stuff I licked off the table"
Mom: "what was it?"
Kabe: "Oh yeah, sugar!"
Mom: "what happens when the yeast wakes up?"
Kabe: "It grows and fills up my balloon"
(there was a balloon placed over the mouth of a water bottle with the yeast mixture in it)
Mom: "cool - what's in the balloon?"
Kabe: "a gas . . . . CO2"

So I'm totally impressed that he remembered all this - the first time with a little coaching from Mrs. Fuzzy-Wuzzy (his science teacher) but then several times with no coaching at all. After science we went to wal-mart and left his experiment in the car. When we got back the balloon (in the heat of the car) had grown considerably. Kabe was so excited it was just like Christmas and we got to talk about it for the rest of the day.

I sure love my inquisitive little man and so much enjoy watching him learning and loving it. THANKYOU a million times over to Mrs. Fuzzy-Wuzzy who has really saved him this year from complete boredom as Mommy just wasn't ready to send him off to school yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONI DEE!

Is "Mrs. Fuzzy-Wuzzy" a code name of sorts?

Hopefully.

But at least she has awakened Kabe's desire to learn about science. That is invaluable. (And almost makes up for a unique name.)

That is awesome! I am glad that he has a "creative outlet" :)

Is fuzzy wuzzy a tv show or parent? Dennis
