Tyler: "Hey honey what ya doin'?"
Me: "Oh, just playing with something I bought for myself today"
"What's that?"
"Well, it cost $40, was completely unnecessary, frivolous, wasn't in our budget, and we can't take it with us when we move."
"Cool . . . what was it?"
"Oh - you'll see when you get home".
(He loves me so I get away with murder)
He got a little shock when he walked into the house and saw this:

I'm easily bored, I get the bug to rearrange all the time and I've had the same beautiful forest green ivy kitchen since we got married. The dishes, the curtains, the ivy over the cabinets - it was all very beautiful, but I was bored. So . . . I went out and bought yellow paint (the color was called Daffod
il), yellow towels and yellow fabric for curtains. I also bought that cute little jar with bumblebees on it (because it's the ONLY thing I could find with bees on it).Now I'm no seamstress, but I thought the curtains turned out lovely and Kabe and Ayvri had a lot of fun digging through my sewing box while I worked on them.

Are you loving my one white wall? Well I do and I'll tell you why, because I painted over all the grease and fingerprints and guck that our landlord SHOULD have painted over before we moved in (yes, I tried to scrub it off, but it just didn't work). And now it looks all clean and beautiful and like I don't have 3 little pairs of hands and a pair of paws mauling it all the time.
Now here's the kicker. This is what the big yellow wall WILL look like when I get the vinyl done. The whole bee theme came from President Hinckley's six "be's" and I think it's gonna be great. See how much I love you . . . I photoshoped this picture so you could see the finished product before it's even finished because I'm such a bloggin' addict :)
Now, just in case you're feeling timid let me tell you I've had white walls my whole life and there's something magical about a little COLOR. And the whole kitchen took less than a 1/2 gallon of paint and it was the cheap $10 a gallon kind . . . and I did it all during naptime and the kids didn't get painted :) So . . . be brave and paint something, a color, you won't regret it! Oh, and someday I'll paint the chair backs and table legs black and then they'll be more presentable too!

Toni!! I LOVE IT!! It looks so bright and fresh! I WISH that I could have some color in my apartment, but I think that our landlord might not be too happy! One day tho!
Hope everything is going well for you guys! Mel
It looks beautiful. What an awesome idea with the vinyl!
Didn't you just have a baby? Shouldn't you be resting or something?! Sheesh...you make all of us look bad!
I love your kitchen! Yellow is my favorite color. When we bought our house, the white walls were the first thing to go. The only white walls we have in the house are the ceilings. I love color!
Oh I really like that, a friend of mine did the same with the 6 be's and used a "bees" theme, it was SO CUTE! I also love yours, fresh and new and clean, I love that feeling of new paint...someting just says, *ah* and the best part, no fingerprints *yet* -- lol CUTE CUTE! I am the same as well, I bore easily so I am always looking for something to "do" with myself...like I don't have enough hobbies as it is! lol
I think it looks great! There is something fresh about color. White is - well, boring. I love the Bee quote. You are one talented chick. Not only did you paint AND make the curtains AND photo shop the pic. you did this all pretty dang close to having a baby.
Oh I also meant to tell you I loved the music this Sunday - I Hope They Call Me On A Mission. It was really cool!
I LOVE it! How are you gonna do it? When do I get to hold baby!!!???
Toni! I'm so proud of you for adding color!! Paint is the cheapest thing to change about your house- as opposed to furniture or flooring which can add up. It looks wonderful! Michelle
I always thought you were superwoman. Now it's official. I love the Bee's and the "Be's" on your wall. So creative and wonderful! And you know me and yellow--you wouldn't mind if someday I had a kitchen just like that, right? :) Way to go, and especially after just having a baby. You're making those of us who will take two months off afterward look bad.
What a woman you are!! Good job. I love, love, love the yellow and BEE's and the be's on your wall will be great for your family. You are my inspiration. and I love your gutz.
I love how bright and cheerful it is! And as much as I love you Toni, I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to be your friend. You just make me look too bad! And now that our hubbies will be working together at church, mine is bound to find out how bad you really do make me look!!
I love the color, and it actually looks just like you. I'm a huge fan of a little color and yellow is a perfect choice! I agree with what has already been said that a) you must really be superwoman, b) you just had a baby and you're just going crazy!!! Amazing!!! It all looks so clean and pretty.
I like it. My whole house is different colors. Our room is dark green, pjs is light green, we have a red room and and Mustard yellow bathroom. I just LOVE color! But like some one else said. Didn't you just have a baby?
Yellow is very you! I like it. That wall with the Be's is very nice in it's pre-reality stage. I would like to change my kitchen one day, also. Unfortunately, it is covered floor to ceiling in stripey wallpaper and borders and I think I would have to have permission AND husbandful help to do it...
I love, love, love the saying on the wall, I so want to do something like that in my kitchen
So Cute & So you!! I wish that I could squeeze and kiss your newest addition!! Love ya Toni!!
