I'll Miss my Widget!

OK - yesterday we had another ultrasound, 38 weeks and the baby measures 7 lbs 6 oz. There was a little concern about the size of his left kidney so we'll have another ultrasound on Monday. Fetal Hydronephrosis sounds very intimidating, but I know that it will all work out and we are praying this weekend that by Monday it will have regulated and they won't have to do anything drastic (deep breaths Grandma's . . . all is well).

By this time every time I'm usually screaming "Get it out!" I just reach the point where I'm done and it almost always hits about 37-38 weeks. This is where I get really emotional and needy and Tyler agrees it's time to have it out (no pun intended). However this time I'm having a hard time wanting it to be over. Oh sure there are moments in the night, but overall - I think I'm gonna miss my widget! So I decided to record all my favorite things about being pregnant!

1) Obviously - the moving and growing of the baby. It's a miraculous change to experience and knowing it's another little person is overwhelming and beautiful!

2) Not having to worry about birth control or the full moon (sheesh, this is something I'm not ready to deal with again!).

3) The wonderful excuse to have that extra smoothie or second helping of lasagna, to sit down with my feet up as often as I like, to take naps in the afternoons with the kids, to be a total space cadet and to wear insanely comfortable clothing a LOT without anyone thinking twice about it!.

4) The looks of older women. We were able to go to the temple a couple weeks ago and I LOVE the way that little Grandma's look at me. It's like you can see each of their babies in their eyes as they remember their "young mother" days and it's the most joyful thing I've ever seen! It's fun to be the thing that reminds them.

5) Baby "Talks". Kabe and Ksenya love to talk to the baby and although honestly I've never really talked too him (aside from the "roll over kid" that I sometimes do in the middle of the night, or the "easy on the ribs child" during church), it's fun to hear the things they tell him. Kabe came in the other morning and snuggled up with me and said to my stomach, "Brother, you can come out now, we made your bed". He is baby brother's biggest fan and is always praying that Mommy's back will feel better. (This is due to the fact that Mommy hasn't been able to pick him up or give him piggy back rides for a LONG time and he's pretty sure once the baby comes my back will be up to the task again!).

So there you have it . . . Today I'm thankful to be pregnant.

Okay, so I've done the go-into-labor thing and the induction thing and I must say, Sometimes you just want the kid already. But I'll say, when I have my LAST ONE, I think I'll let it be. I think I'll want to enjoy every last minute I can possibly be pregnant. My sis-in-law would hate me for saying that, but truly, I always loved being pregnant.

What a positive outlook you have on life. Good luck over the next few weeks. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. PS I can't wait to hear what name you have decided for this new little addition.

What a sweet post. It is a very special thing to be able to do. Don't forget to call me when I can hold the baby, I'm waiting, patiently.

You have such a nice way of wording things. It is so fun to be pregnant, I love it too. There are little aches and pains and don't even mention charly horses, but I even got a little excited when I got my first stretch mark (no the creams did not help). The only thing is that people keep telling me that if you don't get to the point where you are ready to get the kid out you won't be mentally pepared for the whole labor scene. Maybe you better stop thinking on the bright side as the labor thing is inevitable at this point!!
