Just thought I'd give a little update on the last wonderful 2 weeks that we got Daddy all to ourselves. Thank heavens for a break every once in a while. We sure love having him home with us!
* Hang shelves in the garage, clean it out and throw a LOT away.
* Water, mow and de-bug the back lawn
* All the ironing (I haven't in about 3 months)
* Clean out all the kids drawers and our closet, sort through all the baby stuff and only save the essentials, in clearly marked bags in bins, labeled by age group.
* Sit down with a financial consultant and figure out how to pay for 4 kids to go on a mission and get out of debt.
* Help with a garage sale (and pick up a few things I liked while I was there)
* Grill (cook outdoors) about 6 times on the new grill we got to celebrate the grass growing.
* Take the kids to a petting zoo at Ksenya's school and marvel that those poor animals can live like that (very sad).
* Vacuum out the van and armorall the daylights out of it so it looks and smells almost new again (oh - and recover about 19 socks that I thought had been eaten)
* Found a great brand new food
dehydrator (I've been hunting for one) at the CCA (it's like DI) and tried my hand at drying things for food storage.* Worked on our "dream house" plans that Tyler keeps drawing and re-drawing. This might be a strange hobby but we enjoy planning and re-planning (my kitchen will be big enough to have a commercial mixer) :)
* Take apart all the sinks in the house to find out why they don't drain properly (those darn plugs seem to catch hair) . . . and Tada! Finally they drain properly!
* Take the kids to the farmers market where they get to try a million free things and we even buy some kettle corn to make it an official party.
* Do a little data entry to fund the "extra" things I've purchased lately and keep us on track with the financial plan we've made

* Go to the zoo and spend the entire day just wandering around together and marveling at our fascinating children.
* Have a camping trip in our living room, sleep in a tent there and have some "ores" (this is how Ksenya says it and it took me a while to figure out what an "ore" is :)
* Bind the edges on 2 little rugs that match the big rugs (in an attempt to save the floor from the office chair)

*Build an awesome tower/castle out of blocks and then take turns knocking it over and putting it back together until Ayvri finally won the game of destruction!
* Take the kiddos to the movies and laugh at how many times Kabe stares at the screen and says "WWWOOOOOWWWW!"
* Watch all 5 of the Harry Potter movies.
* Read the first book of an Orson Scott Card series (now we're both hooked)
* Have 2 new nephews in the same 24 hours. OK so we didn't do this, but it happened to us :)
Overall it was a productive, fun-filled and wonderful little break from school and ready-or-not back to the grindstone we go!

Everything sounds like so much fun. Just that much family time is amazing and should be cherished forever.
Wow! Sounds fun and busy (what part of taking it easy did you get confused?) I am so happy that y'all had such a wonderful family vacation and that you got to spend time with your husband! As I was reading I had to laugh at your hobby- Jeff and I have our dream house plan too- we will have to share ideas sometime.
Yea for vacations!!!! It is so much fun to have daddy home. I have also decided that when they are on vacation they still have the drive like they are in school or still working so they get so much done in the house. I think on of these times I need to work for just a day out of the house so I can get the drive they have...ok just kidding. But it sounds like you all had a blast even with all of the projects.
Wow! Your vacations are a ton more productive than mine. Mine consist of nothing like building block towers and zoos, but reading, reading, reading, getting ahead of the classes about to start and working on my thesis. Someday, though. I am so glad that Tyler got a little break because I think it is truly unhealthy to work as hard as he does. Yay for family vacation time!
That's awesome Toni! You really know how to vacation! I have to say...that's my favorite way to do it. It's all about family and being together. I always love reading your blogs because you really do inspire me to be a better mom; you're awesome!
