Easter Art

One of my favorite family traditions is participating in the "Eggstravaganza" hosted by Aunt Lala every year. Though we haven't been able to actually attend for years, we participate every year via internet submission . . . so here are the Petersen's entries for 2011

This was going to be Mom's entry. Pretty accurately reflects my current emotional state. Still, doesn't accurately portray how I feel about the holiday so instead . . .

This is my entry. It didn't photograph terribly well but it's lovely.

Daddy tried really hard not to care how much dye was being spilled all over everything. He also helped Ayvri to create this masterpiece. The philosophy behind it was, "now let's try this one" and after this honey of an egg was dipped in each cup it resembled photographs of the milky way I think. I like that I can see little fingerprints at the top. Side-note, this is the face Daddy pulls when Mommy sticks a camera in his face and makes a snotty remark.

Kabe liked the olive oil concept and marbled lot's of his eggs. I thought it was funny that of all the green and blue eggs he made, he picked his one orange egg to enter. Isn't he the handsomest boy in the world? LOVE his "farkly" nose.

Ksenya's of course is pink. She said it looked like a feather and it had a little sparkle to it. Today was a good reminder that this chid has no personal space at all. And I think she's growing. Again. Still. And I'm going to find a way to make her stop.

Brigham tried to drink the dye. Over and over and over. His egg is sky-blue-pink by accident but I'm sure Grandma Cox will approve. Heaven help me, the cheeks!

Ayvri's is a lovely lavendar/pink/turquoise which happen to be her favorite colors. Don't mind the face in this one, she decided playing in the dirt was the next best thing when we ran out of eggs to color.

Baby Darla is just too too too small to appreciate this tradition. But she did enjoy eating her very first dandelion as she played in the grass while we colored eggs.
