Welcome to the third edition of let's start school. This one featured Ksenya in 2nd grade and Kabe in Kindergarten at their new public elementary. Mom had her reservations, but so far everything is going well. It's small (did I say SMALL) and that is lovely. The first two days were terribly painful as the girly insisted she wanted to ride the bus. WHAT! No way! This overprotective Mommy was in total rebellion, denial, and then finally bitter acceptance that it was a necessary experience. So I put her on the bus and cried my eyes out, then waited impatiently for an hour (yes, an hour) at the bus stop that afternoon and vowed that it wouldn't ever happen again.
By day three we had worked out the kinks in our plan and all felt good about Mom being the school bus for our family on a permanent basis. This means that I get to take them to and from school until they go off to college (although I didn't discuss the longevity of this plan with the children, I'm sure that they'll be ok with it. . . . at least I'm hopeful).
