I have always been fascinated by the night sky, and Tyler is an absolute stargazing fiend. We really missed the stars in Texas and have enjoyed becoming reacquainted with them here in the country. Of course, it helps when you have a hot tub on the back porch - makes star gazing in winter much more tempting. The other night Ty set the alarm to wake up and watch the eclipse. When it went off I wasn't sure it was worth it but after a pep talk I agreed it was worth seeing.

Then, being the crazy Daddy that he is, we pulled the big kids out of their beds and dropped them into the hot tub so they could see it too. They were way more excited about getting up in the middle of the night to go swimming in winter (yes, there was snow on the ground) than they were about the moon. Still, it made way for nice conversation about "signs and wonders in heaven" and all that jazz.

After they headed back to bed and we were on our way we took one more look and WOW - it just kept getting better. So, I went and ripped them back out of bed, and grabbed Ayvri while I was at it (don't want the poor middle child to feel left out). We headed back out on the porch to have another look. In all I think we only missed about an hour of sleep but made a memory I'll never forget. So glad it was clear out and that the Daddy of the family has such a healthy sense of adventure.
