Mosquitos &Marijuana

Today I'm thankful for happy surprises, especially the ones that are arriving next week to visit and inspired me to finally clean my house (I've been letting it go for a few days . . . ok, weeks . . . no more than a month?) I found a few happy surprises on the way, including:

An inch of standing water on my washing machine that the sewing machine was sitting in (don't worry, it still works).

2 inches of standing water under the sink where a nest of mosquitoes had bred and laid their babies which had hatched and came flooding out of my waffle iron in a stream of black and orange slime. I nearly died. I heaved. I am relieved to know that they are gone and pray that was the only nest hiding in my house.

A pan full of dried out marijuana in the broiler pan under my stove. I don't ever use the broiler but decided that I'd better clean it on the off chance it's needed over Thanksgiving. Apparently the broiler pan seemed a good place to hide a stash. I've never seen the actual plant in real life before and guess what? It looks just like the pictures. Don't worry - I fed it to the Alligator under my sink and washed it down thoroughly with the bleach.

I'm so thankful for the element of surprise, for anticipation and not knowing what's around the next corner . . . it sure makes life an adventure!

I got the freaky chills reading about the mosquitos. Still can't believe the whole marijuana incident! Yikes!

Yuck. Absolutely disgusting. Really, was it marijuana in your broiler? Those slimey orange descriptions were perfect. You're an inspiration to say "I'm thankful," at a time like that.

This experience is yet another thing to add to the list of things that will be funny in ten years but horrible in the moment. (I have quite a collection of those myself.)
