Ouch!

Ayvri has the weirdest little problems. This one is thanks to a mosquito who thought it would be fun to bite her eyelid. She was a little red and itchy last night but I thought a good nights sleep would help her feel better. Turns out it made it worse - this is how she woke up this morning!
She hasn't been able to open her eye all day and the Pediatrician gave her a megadose of steroid and antibiotic. Add that to the benadryl and the girly is looking a little droopy this afternoon - she's still happy though and playing like a wild child as usual. Hopefully the swelling will go down soon. Anyone had experience with reactions like this? I'd love some more ideas of what I can do, not only to treat this reaction but to avoid bites in the future. It seems like the rest of us can be fine and this little tinkerbell gets eaten alive! Oh well, I'll just call her popeye!

The same thing used to happen to Elizabeth's face when she'd get a mosquito bite! They are so sensitive:)

I was sorry to hear of your hospital stories--I'm glad to see you're up and feeling better! I wouldn't wish that upon anyone--I used to get ovarian cysts and stabbing pains too--and it SUCKED!

Love you guys!

I've heard that Skin So Soft from Avon is a bug repellant, and it doesn't smell too bad. I was thinking of getting some for the summer. I've also heard that Melaleuca soap works, it's called the gold bar. I think Danielle Baker may be able to get some. Mosquitos don't usually like me though.

my little abby swells and breaks out in hives whenever she catches any kind of virus or bug bite. it's not my favorite but we have to watch her and if she gets hives or anything like that she can't get hot we have to keep her skin cold or the swelling gets worse. i hate it when she gets the steroid shots she gets really really mean. hopefully the reaction was a one time thing for little ayvri

Oh my heck! She looks so terrible. I'm sorry! The only thing I have heard is that garlic repels bugs, so feed her a lot of garlic!! Poor thing.

Oh my gosh! How sad. She's still adorable, though. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that must feel. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

She better steer clear of bees, just in case. . .

Same thing happens to my Maddux. 2 summers ago we had given him a buzz and that night he got bit by a mosquito on the head! It was golf ball size and we ran him to the emergency room! It happens all the time now... we just have to use LOTS of spray and make him wear a hat! Unfortunately the only way to prevent this would have been a pirate eye patch!! HEHE!
