2) Grocery shopping. I went with only Ayvri and Brigham and felt free as a bird. Here I am with only two children - both of which are content to sit in the cart and neither of which has learned to beg and whine in the store. I was really enjoying myself and was a little startled when a stranger walked up to me and said, "I just want to tell you you're doing a great job". This made me laugh a little so I said, "Well thanks, it's really not as hard as it looks!" (I'm guessing that she was referring to me pushing the kid cart and pulling the food cart - a skill that I've pretty much mastered). "Well . . . you're um, doing a great job" and she flees after giving my little caravan another look full of pity. Sheesh - do people think these kids just fell out of the sky into my car? We get a lot of looks everywhere we go and I'm cool with that, but instead of pity I would like people to get a good laugh out of us, I know I'd laugh if I saw me turn around to watch as Ayvri pulled on the bottom orange in the stack. (don't worry, only 3 of them fell and oranges don't bruise right?)
3) Kabe licked the floor. As much as I'd love to leave you hanging with that one I have to explain. We got home from grocery shopping and I got all the bags into the house and whipped up a few peanut butter sandwiches (pretty much the only thing he'll eat these days) just in time for Brigham to start crying . . . he wanted lunch too. So I put Kabe and Ayvri with their sandwiches on the floor to eat while I feed the baby because I didn't want to have to clean off the groceries from the table. I'm feeding him and hear Kabe say, "I'll get it!" Then he comes running in to tell me how proud he is of himself.
Kabe: "Ayvri made a mess with her sandwich but I cleaned it up for you!"
Me: "You did! What a good brother!"
Kabe: "Yep - I licked up all the peanut butter off the floor!"
Me: " . . . . . What a good brother!" (hey - you have to pick your battles!)

mmm. My daughter licks the dust off the next car in the parking lot and not for her sister's sake, either. At least you swept this week, right?
Hey, you can be short and still bonk your head...trust me, I know:) I like Kabryn's way of cleaning--at least he tried to clean it up, right, and it wasn't poop:) By the way, I can't get over all that hair on Brigham from your previous post. That's a couple years worth of growth for most of my honeys. Love those chubby cheeks. Give them some loves from his CA Petersen auntie. He'll probably be five by the time I see him in person, and won't appreciate my attention to them then:)
Yeah, picking your battles is an understatement at our house. Just look at it this way...he got some extra minerals with his lunch!! Right??
Oh boy do I understand the phrase 'picking your battles' I'm sure that runs through my head at least once everyday. It's good to see you. Your family is beautiful. I'm sure you stay one busy momma. I might need some help in pronouncing your kids names who knows maybe I have it right. I think I can do Brigham and Ayvrie but I'm not sure on the other two. Is it KAY-BRYN and KA SEN YA?
I still haven't really figured out facebook... I am totally a blogger. I can't promise much, It's pretty much just me journal and I document a lot of random things...It's private so send me your email address at haltermanfamily@hotmail.com and i'll 'invite' you to view it. It's good to see your face. Have a great day!
That Kabe is such a stud! What a great kid!! Michelle
Ha ha ha! So funny! Oh, and I am short and still have hit my head on the door to the van. Isn't being a mom awesome?!
I'm glad you clarified how one shops with a cart full of children and still has somewhere to put her groceries, John and I have been thinking we'll have to go together for every little trip. I need these little pointers!
Lol! I like your kids Toni! They make me laugh and they remind me of my own crazy munchkins!
