Gateway Preparatory Academy

After not quite a week of traditional public school this Mommy was done. It just doesn't work with my philosophy of education - let's say it clashes with my nonconformist spirit and I didn't like what I saw happening with my baby girl. Nothing personal against her teacher or the school, I just don't like the school model. Tyler feels the same way, so we switched to an amazing public charter school that is Montessori based and I am IN LOVE! Seriously - after only a day I can tell the difference and I feel good about sending my littles off into the world to make their choices. Kabe and Ksenya both started together. She had a little bit of a rough start - I think switching schools had her feeling off balance and she got very emotional when I sent her off but by the end of the day she was smiling and happy and excited and was happy to go this morning. Kabe was so excited he couldn't wait for me to leave and was all smiles. I had to laugh at how much littler he was than the other kids in his class but he wasn't concerned about it at all and was very proud of the owie he got during recess. I'm so thankful for this opportunity and don't want to think about what we'll do when we move. At least for now I know my kids are learning to be independent thinkers and that helps my heart to be without them.

I hear ya! I'm really trying to give our new school a chance until December, but after the first week I'm fed up already. We're looking into a charter school as well. I'm glad we have the option!
