In the first couple of days of our new adventure I was in the depths of despair. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm completely and utterly dependent on Tyler and without him right here with me, I was a mess. Thankfully, I'm surrounded by my family and my bosom friend and Aunt Darla rescued me with a diversion for me and my anxious kids.I am so overwhelmed with the beauty of this place. I loved Texas and found it lovely, but there's something about these mountains that stirs my blood. This place is home and being out in nature really did something wonderful to my lonely heart. This is Kolob Canyon - one of the many exceptionally breathtaking places we'll visit this summer.
The kids were a little confused when I said we were going to a national park and there was no playground equipment. We had a good long talk about what that means, followed by a profound question from my astute 6-year-old, "Mommy, if it's public, why does it cost money to get in?" I just love her logic.
These two are kindred spirits - Ayvri got the shades from our travel kit and wouldn't take them off at all for 3 solid days. They definitely suite her personality and she really likes to wear them upside down.
Brigham latched right on to Uncle Scott who has a natural way with little kids and can make the most boring rock on earth a grand adventure. They loved watching him try to catch lizards and playing "don't touch the ground".
